Every new customer who signs with Billee is a bet that we can get their setup right the first time. As Implementation Manager, you lead the team responsible for the technical work that makes that bet pay off — the discovery, configuration, and billing accuracy checks that turn a signed contract into a live, accurate account. When this role doesn't exist, setup errors slip through, billing accuracy suffers, and the trust a new customer needs to stick around never gets built. As a startup, that trust is everything: this is the work that sets the tone for the entire relationship.
You'll lead a team of three associates (with growth planned over the next 12 months) responsible for integration configuration, meter data mapping, utility account setup, billing calculation QA, and lease and billing-method audits for every new implementation. You'll stay roughly a quarter of your time hands-on in the work itself, spending the rest managing and QA-ing your team's output — catching what needs to be caught before it ever reaches a customer. You'll work in lockstep with our Customer Onboarding Manager, who owns the client relationship, while you own the technical accuracy behind it. And when it's time to walk a client through audit findings or a setup decision, you're the one who can explain it clearly.
This work rewards people who genuinely like being in the weeds — if you need to stay at the surface level, this isn't the role for you. If you get real satisfaction from catching the detail everyone else would miss, building process out of a still-evolving playbook, and leading a small team through work that directly determines whether a new customer trusts us, you'll thrive here.

Technical Discovery & Setup
Own integration configuration for each new client — connecting Billee's platform to the property's existing systems and data. This is the work that gets accurate billing live on schedule and feeds directly into the Customer Onboarding Manager's go-live timeline.
Billing Accuracy QA
Own meter data mapping, utility account setup, and QA of every billing calculation before go-live, plus lease audits and audits of a property's current billing method. This is the detail work that protects customer trust and revenue accuracy from day one — and keeps errors from ever reaching a resident's bill.
Team Leadership
Manage and develop a team of three associates (with growth planned over the next 12 months). Stay roughly 25% hands-on in the work itself while spending the rest of your time managing and QA-ing the team's output — keeping team capacity and quality scaling with the business.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Work hand-in-hand with the Customer Onboarding Manager — and Sales, as needed — to keep technical setup in sync with the client-facing implementation timeline. Present audit findings or setup decisions directly to clients when it's time, so there are no surprises and no dropped handoffs.
Process Improvement
Refine setup and QA playbooks as the team scales in an early-stage environment where the process is still being written. Make implementation faster and more consistent as volume grows.
• 5+ years of experience in technical implementation or onboarding
• 5+ years of experience specifically in utility billing — you understand billing methodologies, lease structures, and how utility data translates into resident billing
• Track record of managing technical implementation or billing setup across multiple accounts or properties simultaneously
• Extremely detail-oriented — comfortable living in the weeds of granular technical and billing detail
• Strong internal collaborator who can also communicate clearly with clients when needed — especially when walking them through audit findings
• Process-minded, comfortable with ambiguity in an early-stage environment, and flexible with change
• Obsessively Accurate — You catch the discrepancy in the lease audit that everyone else would miss. You'd rather double-check a calculation than let a billing error reach a customer, because you know accuracy here is what earns trust for the entire relationship.
• Builds Systems, Not Just Fixes Problems — When you notice the same setup issue twice, you don't just fix it again — you build a checklist or process so the team catches it before go-live next time.
• Leads by Doing — You stay hands-on (roughly a quarter of your time) even as you manage the team, so you understand the work well enough to QA it, unblock it, and train others on it.
• Credible in Front of Clients When It Counts — Most of your work happens behind the scenes, but when it's time to walk a client through audit findings or explain a technical setup decision, you can do it clearly and confidently — translating detail-heavy work into something a non-technical stakeholder can trust.
• Grows With Ambiguity — You're energized, not frustrated, by a playbook that's still being written. You bring structure to a 3-person team today knowing it'll look different in a year, and you build for that.
• Trusted Cross-Functional Partner — You proactively flag technical blockers to the Onboarding Manager and Sales before they become client-facing problems, and you communicate clearly enough that non-technical teammates always know where things stand.
While this role doesn't require an engineering background, you'll work with these tools regularly:
• Google Workspace — day-to-day documentation, communication, and audit tracking
• Slack — primary internal communication across teams
• Billee Platform & internal custom-built tools — you'll become an expert in our proprietary systems; deep training provided from day one
• Claude — used across the team to support day-to-day workflows
Comfort learning new and often custom-built systems quickly matters more than walking in with experience on these exact tools.
This role is part of our Customer Experience team, reporting to the VP of Customer Experience. Your closest partner is the Customer Onboarding Manager — the technical setup and accuracy work you own is what makes their go-live timeline possible. You'll also work with Sales during handoffs and with Customer Success as accounts move into steady-state support.
• Salary Range: $130,000 to $160,000
• Health, dental, and vision insurance
